Day 9

Day 9 of Colorado's mandatory shelter-in-place order. Is anyone else starting to recognize things that resemble Stephen King's "The Stand"? M-O-O-N, that spells Quarantine!

I was finally able to see a dentist three towns over for my broken tooth. I ended up needing a surgical extraction so I get to look forward to implant surgery after the pandemic.  When I was leaving for the dentist, Bubba Lou decided he needed to attempt a jail break. Knowing now how bad it sucks to be cooped up inside, he and I spent a few minutes in the fresh air and sun before I popped him back in the house. Hopefully this will earn me brownie points.

I can see and hear from my window, the numerous children from my neighborhood playing in the street. There's about 8 of them, all under the age of ten. Part of me is ecstatic to see them outside playing, as opposed to inside in front of the TV or gaming console. There is no social distancing in their world and they aren't supervised in the slightest. (They're playing in the street - hello!) Bicycles, scooters, and a basketball are their entertainment, which I think is wonderful! The mom in me hopes they don't get sick though, and I have to fight the urge to yell out the window, "¡Oye chicos! ¡Seis pies!" (Translation: Hey kids! Six feet!) Yes, I speak a small amount of really bad Spanish.

Today's Tips:

  • Wash your hands with soap and hot water for at least 30 seconds. I recommend singing the chorus to "Animals" by Nickelback. Scrub vigorously if not violently while you sing. Evict those nasty germs from your hands.
  • If you have a pet, make sure you're paying attention to their needs. Having you home all the time could be disrupting their routines and causing them stress. (That little PSA was from Bubba.)
I dont have a third tip today, as my face really hurts. Stay healthy my friend!
